Cosmic Atlas terms of use

1. Agreement

By downloading or using Cosmic Atlas (“the app”) you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. The app

Cosmic Atlas is a free astronomy app: a live sky map, information about the Solar System and deep space, space news and imagery, lessons and quizzes, and Cosmo, an on-device space guide. We may add, change or remove features at any time.

3. Your licence to use the app

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use. You may not copy, modify, resell, decompile or reverse-engineer the app, remove its notices, or use it in a way that breaks the law or harms others.

4. Astronomy information and safety

The app calculates positions, times and events on your phone from scientific models and public data. Results are as accurate as we can make them but can differ from reality, for example because of your location settings, device sensors or the limits of the models. Do not rely on the app for navigation, safety-critical decisions or professional use.

Never look directly at the Sun, and never through binoculars, a telescope or a camera without a certified solar filter, including during eclipses. Observe the night sky safely: watch your footing, stay aware of traffic and weather, and respect private property.

5. Cosmo and AI-generated answers

Cosmo answers using built-in data, live calculations and, on supported phones, an on-device AI model. AI-generated answers can be incomplete or wrong. Check important information with other sources. Cosmo is a space guide only and does not give medical, legal, financial or other professional advice.

Please do not try to make Cosmo produce harmful, hateful, sexual or illegal content. If an answer is offensive or wrong, use the “Report” button. Reports are handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

The optional Cosmo Pro model is downloaded from a third party (Hugging Face) and is an open model from Google (Gemma) released under the Apache 2.0 licence. Gemini Nano is provided by Google through Android AICore under Google’s terms. By downloading or using these models you also accept their licences and terms.

6. Ads, rewards and ad-free time

The app is free and supported by ads from Unity LevelPlay and Unity Ads. You can watch optional rewarded videos to get ad-free time, streak freezes, HD image unlocks, Cosmo Pro access or quiz helpers.

Rewards have no monetary value, cannot be bought, sold or transferred, and are stored only on your device. They may be lost if you clear the app’s data, uninstall the app or change phones. We may change how rewards work, including durations and limits, at any time. Do not try to manipulate ads or rewards (for example with automated tools or fake clicks); doing so may disable ads and rewards for your device.

7. Third-party content and services

The app shows content from public sources such as NASA, NOAA, ESA, the NASA Exoplanet Archive and Wikimedia Commons. This content belongs to its owners and is used under their terms or licences; credits are listed in the app under Settings > About. NASA does not endorse Cosmic Atlas, and the app is not affiliated with NASA, ESA or any space agency.

Some features depend on third-party services that may be unavailable, slow or changed at any time. We are not responsible for third-party content, services or websites linked from the app.

8. Our rights

The app, its design, code, text, illustrations, the Cosmo character and the Cosmic Atlas and IMMER Labs names and logos belong to IMMER Labs or its licensors. These terms do not give you any rights to them other than the licence in section 3.

9. Disclaimer

The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and uninterrupted or error-free operation, to the extent allowed by law.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, IMMER Labs is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, rewards or opportunities, arising from your use of or inability to use the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Ending your use

You can stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or end your access to features (such as ads and rewards) if you break these terms.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If we do, we will change the effective date above and, for important changes, mention them in the app’s release notes. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Kosovo, without affecting any mandatory consumer rights you have where you live.
